Milani Charitable Trust Tailoring Center

The Milani Charitable trust, is situated at the outskirts of Kamavarapukota in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Nearly 300 families are around this Mission Trust. As the days pass on the number of the families are increasing. They live from hand to mouth because their work is seasonal. Because the work is seasonal, they could become disadvantaged in many ways. That is to say, they themselves are illiterate and since they have no source of income, they were not able to educate their children. The project is aimed to improve their futures by providing sewing machines to our unemployed girls and women.

The housewives don’t have consistent work since it is seasonal and the young girls will not be able to study because of their poverty. It is for this reason that this project is aimed to assist. Here, we not only teach tailoring, but will also add crafts work, embroidery, knitting, bag making, cooking and gardening. In this tailoring center we will stitch different styles for both ladies and men, block printing on sarees and bed-sheets, embroidery on all sorts of dresses and lace work. This tailoring center can create self employment for around 56 people per year.

After learning one year tailoring, they need not leave their communities to search for work. They can be self-employed and work from home to earn income for their daily needs.  A housewife can earn around Rs. 100/ per day after completing her daily work.  This helps to maintain the household. With this they can feed their family without fear of going hungry. They can also educate their children instead of sending them out to work as a daily laborer. The main aim of this project is to give them self-respect and to make them self-sufficient. As they are poor they are not able to buy a sewing machine themselves to stitch at home after finishing the training.  Therefore we would like to invite your support in contributing a sewing machine so that each training graduate can earn an consistent income at home once the training has completed.
